Kris, and the hatdragon

I've been a maker for most of my life — mostly at night, mostly without a plan for any of it. Some of it is digital work built at print size. Some of it is a sketchbook I carried around. Some of it is photographs. Some of it is cut and dyed leather. None of it was made for a website. Some of it is good, some of it is not, and it is all here anyway.

The hat was a street festival find. The dragons were a hobby. Both were always around, and somewhere along the way the name stuck to me.

Practice

The digital series came first and hardest: built at print size, matted and signed, finished only once they stopped changing. Sketches are single sessions with no corrections allowed, which is why most of them are not finished. The photographs are where several of the digital pieces started. Paint is the one that fought back, and there is exactly one of it here. The leather is the newest habit and the only one with a knife in it: collars, cuffs, a set of fox ears, cut and dyed and set by hand. Writing will follow at some point.
